Terms and Conditions

General

The Hashtag Gaming events known as “Man of the Match (MotM)” and “Power Play (PP)” hereafter is a video game tournament where competitors will play against each other using EA Sports FIFA and EA Sports NHL known as “FIFA” and “NHL”.
Competitors hereafter known as “Players“ will compete against each other to win the tournament overall.

“Referees” will manage and ensure sure that the games run to time, and are in line with the Game Rules and Terms and conditions of the Tournament. All referee decisions are final.

The Tournament Format is subject to change at short notice and will depend on number of players and time restrictions.

These Terms and Conditions outline the participation in Hashtag Gaming events. Participants in these events accept and agree to the Terms and Conditions outlined below.

  • Controllers will be provided, it is the player’s responsibility to know the controller’s functions.
  • If a controller is broken or defective, the player may pause the game and advise the referee. A replacement will be given if the controller is deemed unfit to play with.
  • Pauses or delays in the game are prohibited.
  • Any action to disrupt, distract or impair the opposition player is prohibited.
  • Each game will kick off at a specified time. Players failing to be present at the specified time will be disqualified from the competition and the opposition awarded a 3-0 win. Players should check in 5 minutes before the scheduled game time.
  • Players will have two minutes to configure controllers, teams and tactics. Custom packages and formations are not permitted.
  • Each game result must be recorded with the referee at the final whistle.
  • No game interruptions will be allowed.
  • If a game is interrupted intentionally by any player that player will be immediately disqualified.
  • In the event that a player is sent off or an injury occurs to a player the game may be paused and changes to the strategy and/or formation may be made.

Participation

Members of the public may register to participate in the tournament.
There is a limit of one (1) entry per person.
If there is a registration fee for the event; all fees must be paid in full before the tournament.
Registration fee is required at the time of registration.
No refunds will be given for cancellations within 48hrs of the competition.

Player conduct

Players will conduct themselves in a good manner at all times to other players, spectators and tournament officials and any other persons.

  • Offensive Language is prohibited.
  • Verbal and Physical abuse is prohibited. Threatening action or language directed at other players, spectators and tournament officials and any other persons will not be tolerated and will lead to disqualification.
  • Abuse to any gaming equipment including but not exclusive to consoles, controllers and screens is prohibited.
  • Abuse or actions resulting interference of a game is prohibited.
  • Gambling or betting of any kind is prohibited.

Video/Media recording

I hereby grant permission to Hashtag Gaming and its employees to the rights of my image, likeness and sound on audio and visual recordings and images.
I further grant Hashtag Gaming and its employees the right to reproduce, use, exhibit, display, broadcast and distribute and create derivative works of these images and recordings online or in any media now known or later developed for promotional, educational and informational purposes.
I additionally waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising or related to the use of my image or recording.

Tournament Format

Group Stage

Players are split into groups of four. Each player will then play their group members once. The top two players with the most points from each group will advance to the knockout stage.

Position in group is determined by:

  1. Number of points
  2. Superior goal difference
  3. Higher number of goals scored
  4. Higher number of goals scored away from home

Knockout Stage

The knockout stage is a single-elimination tournament in which teams play each other in one-off matches, with extra time and penalty shootouts used to decide the winner if necessary.

FIFA Game Rules

All rules are subject to change. Changes may occur without notice.
The format of the MotM may also be changed without notice. It is each Player’s responsibility to know and understand the rules as they exist the day of the tournament.

Games will be played using FIFA in ‘Kick Off’ mode.
The player listed first should play as the home player and should sit on the left, facing the screen.
Players may choose any team for each game with the exception of FIFA XI, Adidas All Stars and all other FIFA Specialized teams.

General Rules

If applicable, in the event of a draw after regulation time extra time will incur in the format of two one (1) minute halves. If after extra time the scores are still level Penalties will decide the winner.

NHL Game Rules

All rules are subject to change. Changes may occur without notice.
The format of the PP may also be changed without notice. It is each Player’s responsibility to know and understand the rules as they exist on the day of the tournament.

Games will be played using NHL in ‘Quick Play’ mode.
The player listed first should play as the away player and should sit on the left, facing the screen.
Players may choose any team for each game with the exception of West/East All Stars and all other NHL Specialized teams.
